Doctors often do idiotic things when using electrocautery, such as combine it with metal clamps, or just have no idea when to stop using it even after they have caused severe burns.
Time and time again there are horror stories when patients, especially small children loose their penis during circumcision. Most of these horrific incidents involve the improper use of electrocautery.
But one must realize that the underlying problem isn't the practice of circumcision, but the complete and utter incompetence of some surgeons who perform it.
